Weekly Spelling Activities Ideas

Create riddles with your spelling words as answers.
Cut letters from newspapers or magazines. Use the letters to spell your words. Paste the letters into your notebook.
Design a cartoon strip using your words.
Draw and colour a picture that represents each word.
Make a set of flashcards for studying your words & bring your cards to school.
Make and complete a word search using www.puzzlemaker.com
Use each spelling word in a sentence that shows it’s meaning.
Use your spelling words to write a short story.
Write a definition for each word.
Write a letter to a friend or relative, in proper letter format, using each spelling word. Highlight or underline the words.
Write a poem using your spelling words.
Write a song or rap using your spelling words.
Write each spelling word as bubble letters in a rainbow of colours.
Write each spelling word. Next to each word, write one synonym and one antonym for each word.
Write each spelling word. Next to each word, write two additional words of at least 3 letters that can be spelled using the letters in the word. Example: the word concombre can be used to make the words mon, ombre, nom, bon, etc.
